Scan to BIM Process

1 | Onsite Site Scan

Helm technician is available to be onsite within 1-2 weeks of confirmation. The duration of the scan is dependent on the size.

[ 1-2 Days ]

2 | Date Post Processing

Raw scan data is processed and converted to a single unified point cloud file within 3D space within 1-3 days.

[ 2-4 Days ]

3 | Revit As-Built Model

Point cloud is used to create a 3D Architectural / Structural Revit Model for design use (LOD300) within 5-8 days. (CAD & MEP As-Builts available)

[ 5-8 Days ]

4 | Deliverables (CAD + REVIT)

Helm team will submit all files for comments and create a final deliverable package to include 3D Revit Model, CAD’s, Matterport.

What makes us different?

With BIM project management and construction experience, our team uses laser scanning as a tool to model with extreme precision to be used in precise coordination efforts.

When it comes to Scan to BIM projects, look no further than Helm BIM.

What sets us apart is our experience as a seasoned BIM Coordination manager for all mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire protection trades.

BIM coordination is a game of inches, ensuring that all trades fit in harmony amongst one another and within an architectural and structural design model. Helm BIM’s standard is to arrive at constructible documentation, and this is reflected in our Scan to BIM services.

We model as-built conditions with future coordination efforts in mind. When a design model is at least halfway complete, Helm BIM can also offer design review services serving as a preliminary coordination evaluation.

With a track record of successful projects and a commitment to excellence, Helm BIM is the ideal resource for transforming 3D laser scan data into accurate and reliable Building Information Models (BIM). Here’s why:

What our clients have to say

If you are looking for a new, exciting way to see your mechanical space without crawling through the equipment, this is the team to call!  The Wistar Institute has a mechanical space that is over 40 years old, dark, dirty, and crowded. We employed the Helm’s team to come in and develop a 3D model of the space to allow us to better see what we have and plan for a renovation in the future. The product they sent was even more detailed than I expected and has set us up for the renovations. The team was professional and very easy to work with. They communicated throughout the processing, explaining what they were doing and the results we would receive, and they met the mark on all fronts. I would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future.
