Helm Services

Helm BIM offers unparalleled Building Information Modeling (BIM) services and technology designed to help you and your team to better plan, collaborate, and achieve your project goals – all while saving valuable time and money.

3D Drafting Services

Line drawings and other 2D documents are limited in their ability to accurately visualize how plans come together. Whether mechanical ducts and piping, plumbing, or electric, the ability to see how different systems impact one another is vital to the success of your construction project.

Our experienced drafters take your documents and provide clear, easy-to-read, and shareable 3D models and detailed shop drawings that help you to visualize your design and examine the intersection of all vendor plans. These dynamic 3D models, which can benefit a variety of industries, provide greater perspective on the scale and details of your project, and can be leveraged as a design or sales tool. We cater to your specific requirements and project needs.

Benefits

  • Prefabrication Quality Modeling
  • Clear and Concise Shop Drawings
  • Exact Quantity Take-offs

3D Laser Scanning

The ability to capture detailed data and provide accurate information for your construction site is extremely valuable. When performed manually, this often proves complicated, costly, and time-consuming, not to mention erroneous.

Laser scanning, which uses a high-tech laser to map out an area with great accuracy, provides construction professionals with a digital record of the space in question. It works by utilizing a database that connects the points identified by the laser to a 3D coordinate system.

Helm BIM can help you to successfully manage your project by applying top-notch laser scanning at different points throughout your project’s lifecycle. By documenting errors and identifying solutions, 3D laser scanning helps to improve coordination, reduce the need for change orders, and facilitate your project goals in the most efficient manner.

Benefits

  • Instant Information
  • Improved Accuracy and Quality
  • Decreased Costs
  • Reduced Manual Labor
  • Streamlined Construction Coordination

Scan to BIM

Just as 3D laser scanning results in precise measurements, so too does scan to BIM. Scan to BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a process that utilizes a 3D laser scanner to digitally capture an existing building or space as-is, or “as-built,” in order to help with digital planning (Building Information Technology). The scanner collects millions of points and threads them together using 3D BIM software to create a realistic digital image, or “point cloud,” that captures the design and real, existing conditions. The point cloud is used in Autodesk Revit to create an accurate BIM model.

This digital representation can then be used in the design process and at various stages of the project’s lifecycle to manage the process, as well as for creating or updating a BIM model. Scan to BIM has now become a standard practice architect, contractors, property owners, and other MEP professionals.

Helm BIM has great experience scanning a wide variety of buildings:

  • Mixed Use Properties
  • Hospitals
  • Mechanical Rooms
  • Industrial Complexes
  • Retail Properties
  • Residential Properties

Benefits

  • Maximize Efficiency
  • Accurate Spatial Data
  • Reduce Costs
  • Calculate Accurate Bill of Material
  • Reduce Risk and Requirement of
  • Manual Surveying

Coordination Consultant

Design is one thing while constructability is another. The goal of any project is to smoothly transition through each stage of the process. As a coordination consultant, Helm BIM acts as both a trade manager and design coordinator for your project, allowing for a better understanding of how different building systems fit within a design.

We convert 2D design documentation into LOD350 / 400 3D BIM Models that are used for class detection and resolution between designs and the spatial coordination of designs. Working closely with all trade professionals, we perform a wide variety of tasks in order to ensure that all project goals are successfully met. With the extensive knowledge and experience required to oversee all trades in a project, Helm BIM offers exceptional assistance.

As a coordination consultant, Helm BIM is responsible for numerous aspects of your project:

  • BIM Execution Plan – Establish Project Organization
  • Trade Coordination and Clash Detection
  • Production of Composite Models and Drawings for Review
  • Scheduling, RFI’s
  • 4D Build Strategy Review (3D BIM + Schedule)

Benefits

  • Reduced EWO’s
  • Ensure Schedule Maintenance
  • Discover Issues Well in Advance
